• 5 Spring Activities You Can Do With Your Dog

Spring has finally decided to make its arrival, and now it’s time to get outside and enjoy it—but don’t forget to take your pup along with you! There are plenty of outdoor dog activities you can do with your furry friend that will be enjoyable for both of you. Here are five outdoor activities you can do with your dog this weekend.

Take a Nature Hike – Spring is such a wonderful time to get outside and see all that nature has to offer. The blossoming trees, the budding flowers and of course the sunshine are enough reasons to want to take a hike. Visit your local Metro Park and take your dog with you. They will love taking in all the new sights and smells, as you enjoy walking through nature as well.

Plan a Doggy Play Date – Who doesn’t love to socialize and hang with friends? What better way to get out of the house and catch up with friends than with a doggy play date. Get in touch with a few of your friends who also have dogs, and schedule a time to get together. Your pups can play while you have quality friend time!

Build an Obstacle Course – Do you remember how much fun you had building forts as a kid? Dogs happen to love the adventure that comes from running through mazes and obstacle courses. You don’t need many resources to build a fun doggy maze or obstacle course. Use what you have from around the house to create a fun obstacle course or maze for your pup. With the weather warming up, your backyard would be a great place to set this up.

Shed the Winter Weight by Walking – Just as we tend to put on a couple pounds during the winter months, our furry friends also gain a little weight. If you live in an area that has cold, snowy winters, outdoor exercise can be limited during the winter. Now that the weather is warmer, it’s time to get out of the house and go for a long walk or jog. Not only will this be beneficial for you but it will get your dog in shape too!

Cool Off with a Water Fight – Though it might not be hot enough for this just yet, trust us, it will be eventually! After that nice long jog with your pup, cool off in the backyard with the sprinkler. Have you ever seen a dog try to bite the water? It’s entertaining and they love it too. Let him splash around and enjoy every moment of it. Just be sure you have a towel on hand to wipe his wet feet before going back indoors.

Just as you were excited for the first day of spring, we are sure your dog was too. Being cooped up inside all winter can become boring for your dog after a while. It’s time to dust off your running shoes, break out that leash and hit the pavement. We hope you can check at least one or two of these outdoor dog activities off the list this weekend. Trust us, your dog will thank you!
